building terminated construction in 1936. Its architectonic style corresponds to "Rationalism", which flourished as a trend in Europe during the first half of the previous century. The building plan was prepared by the famous Italian architect of that time, Vittorio Marpurgo. This style is distinguished for its enormous volumes and strong lines in the front. It has been mostly applied in official buildings, to express the strength and power of the governments of that time and it was used in many countries of Western Europe. In this respect, the building of the Bank of Albania was one of the memorable buildings of its kind at that period.
The location of this building in the central square of Tirana, with the name of our famous warrior during the Middle Ages "Skėndėrbej" has wholly justified the respect of the citizens of Tirana and of all Albanians. The building has been conceived on a polygonal plan, split in two functional sides: the main building where the representative function of the bank would be exercised and its operating part. The latter would be constructed on both sides and the backside of the main building. This part would be built in the 40's, but its construction was interrupted by he outbreak of the World War II.

The main office building has been set up in the form of an arch, constrained by its position in the main square of the city. This entrance includes a grand portal, involving the entire height of the frontage, based on deep colors and decorated by baked clay bas(s) relieves in its typical color, which gives the building a very formal and dignified appearance, on the whole. The two parts of the building were supposed to be accompanied by the employees living apartment. This object was also of the same architectonic style with that of the bank and planned to be built near by the bank, by the side of the Albanian Parliament building during the 30-ies.
