In view of its objective, the Bank of Albania has the responsibility to inform the Albanian public about its monetary policy in particular and the country's economic situation in general. In this framework, and also to enrich the public knowledge and explain its role and functions to the public, the Bank of Albania publications are available to everyone interested in them.
Formal Publications
The Annual Report of the Bank of Albania provides an analysis of the economic - financial situation of the country, Bank of Albania activity throughout a year and financial statements and accounts, along with auditor's report on the financial situation of the Bank of Albania. It also makes a description of developments in the world economy and their impact on the domestic economy; developments in the money markets, banking supervision and other activities of the Bank of Albania.
The main objective of the Bank of Albania is to achieve and maintain price stability. To pursue this goal and to strengthen its transparency, the Bank of Albania compiles and publishes the Monetary Policy Report. This Report is the main instrument the Bank of Albania uses to communicate its monetary policy to the public.
It is a simplified summary of the monetary policy the Bank of Albania will pursue throughout a year.
Statistical Report is a monthly publication prepared by Statistics Department and contains data on the real sector, financial sector, fiscal sector and the external sector.
Official Bulletin is a publication prepared not less than once a month and contains all the decisions of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania other than those having secret or confidential character, regulations, declarations, opinions, recommendations, and any other acts of similar character, deemed as appropriate for publication. It is available only in Albanian.
Economic Bulletin encompasses analyses, assessments with regard to the Bank of Albania monetary policy and information on the banking system. This publication comes out quarterly and contains: the official statements of the Bank of Albania, which are compiled pursuant to the requirements of the effective Law "On the Bank of Albania" as monetary policy statements; the independent opinion on the situation of the Albanian economy; the balance of payments statements; the presence of the Bank of Albania administrators in public; various articles dealing with economic, financial and legal issues; outcomes of statistical surveys, conducted by the Bank of Albania; statistical data on the banking system, the monetary situation and the real economy; the list of commercial banks licensed to operate in the Republic of Albania, their addresses and contact numbers; the organizational structure and the Bank of Albania's leading board (members of the Supervisory Council and the departments' heads).
The
Financial Stability Report
(FSR) is a document which analyses the most important developments of the financial system through a calendar year and identifies the factors of systemic risk for the domestic financial stability. The purpose of this report is to detect and assess the risks the financial system and its infrastructure are faced with, as well as to provide the public authorities with the possibility to identify the relevant measures for the necessary corrections. For the compilation of this report there have been used data available at the Bank of Albania and information has been exchanged with other authorities, which supervise the activity of the financial market. The FSR was first published in 2008 and it will be released half-yearly both in Albanian and English.
Supervision Annual Report is prepared by the Supervision Department and provides: an annual analysis of the banking system activity and of the Bank of Albania supervision; a complete framework of the regulatory supervision changes in compliance with best international standards and practices; statistics and information on entities licensed by the Bank of Albania and issues of banking system performance.
Annual Bulletin of the Balance of Payments analyses in detail the external sector development of the Albanian economy for the respective year. An analysis of the balance of payments according to specific items of the current account and capital and financial account is made in this publication. It provides detailed analyses of foreign trade developments according to merchandise items and states, performance analyses of services, income, current transfers and capital and financial transactions. It provides to the users of the balance of payments statement, knowledge on the "balance of payments" concept, displaying simultaneously the sources and the approach used in compiling the Albanian Balance of Payments. Also, the Bulletin provides a statistical annex, where the reader will find time series of data on the main items of the balance of payments.
The publications catalogue of the Bank of Albania is an annual publication of regular frequency, which provides a summary of periodic publications, periodic or no periodic reports, and other publications the Bank of Albania has prepared during a calendar year for commercial banks, for various institutions and different individuals, for the public at large, within the country and abroad. Besides, the catalogue encompasses also a summary of the articles of the Bank of Albania's employees, disclosed in publications outside the bank.
They are publications of different Bank of Albania departments, which reflect the results and comments of surveys carried out systematically or not, on lending and depository activity of financial institutions, on the performance of their relations with customers (business or individuals), on the performance of foreign direct investments, markets responses to monetary policy decision-making, tourism, etc.
They are studies, research on various issues. They deal with theoretical and practical aspects that are important for the economic developments, for current financial performance of the country and for development expectations. These papers reveal comparative analyses, ascertainment, new proposals and ideas. They are prepared by Bank of Albania staffs. The views expressed in these materials are of the authors and not necessarily those of the Bank of Albania.
Other Publications
The Bank provides a range of publications to build awareness and understanding of the role and functions of the financial system in general and banking system in particular. This category includes Legal Publications (consisting of publications of the most important banking laws and commentaries), Educational Publications (consisting of brochures, leaflets, loose leaves), for increasing the public understanding of central banking, of the banking and financial system.
An important place is occupied by the Series of BoA Conferences Books, which contain all papers/studies presented to the BoA International Conferences, and monographs on the Bank of Albania and its history.
