Mr. Fatos Ibrahimi graduated from Faculty of Economy of University of Tirana, Finance branch in 1985. He received the scientific degree of “Doctor” in 1995 and of “Associated Professor” in 2004.
He started the professional career as credit officer at the branch of Agricultural Bank in Përmet, where he worked for almost five years. In 1990-1995, he worked as a lecturer of the subjects “Money and Banking” and “Banking Management” at the Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana. In 1995-1997 he worked at the General Executive Board of the Agrarian Commercial Bank, initially as Risk Department Manager and later on as Chief of Treasury Department. In May 1997 he was nominated Deputy General Manager of the National Commercial Bank and during the same year he was nominated First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania.
Dr. Fatos Ibrahimi is Deputy Governor of Albania at the World Bank and at the Islamic Bank of Development.
He is an author and co-author of the university textbooks “Banking Economy”, “Central Bank and Monetary Policy”, as well as of a number of writings, articles, papers in various scientific activities. His areas of interest are focused on such issues as: problems on financial institutions functioning, banking system reforming problems, capital market role during transition, capital accumulation problems in Albania, aspects of monetary policy and deposits security, etc.
He is fluent in English, French, and Italian.
Dr. Fatos Ibrahimi is the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania and Member of its Supervisory Council since September 1997.
