Dr. Limos Malaj graduated in Economics, at University of Tirana, in 1971. He is Doctor of Economics, and previously a Chartered Auditor.
He has a quite rich experience, especially at the Ministry of Finance where he first worked as Economist and later on as Director of Accounting Department (1974-1984), and subsequently at the Banking and Financial Institutions Supervision Department (1998-2000).
For a short period of time he worked in the position of Executive Director of Veve Group in Tirana.
His experience in central banking is considerable. For several years in succession, he occupied important positions at the State Bank of Albania as Advisor to the General Director and as Deputy General Director of the Bank and later on at the Bank of Albania as Advisor to the Governor and as Director of Supervision Department (1985-1998).
Dr. Malaj has been member of several working groups, such as the one for the establishment of the "Black Sea Trade and Development Bank" (a regional bank based in Thessaloniki, Greece), the other one for the establishment of the Development Bank (a project of the World Bank and EBRD), and engaged as well in the auditing of some companies in collaboration with German, Italian, British, Belgian companies, etc.
He participated in diverse mid-term and long-term training courses and seminars inside and outside the country, especially in the banking sector, organized by foreign institutions such as IMF, Banque de France, Central Bank of Switzerland, Vienna Institute, in the USA, Austria, France, etc.
He is fluent in English and French.
