On the activity of the Bank of Albania Governor, Ardian Fullani, during the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group

During 20-22 April 2012, Mr. Ardian Fullani, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, participated in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington DC.

These Spring Meetings are an open forum where participants may discuss the latest developments in the global economy and present the macroeconomic situation of respective countries.

During the Meetings, Governor Fullani met with a number of high-level officials, among others Ms. Nemat Shafik, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF; Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, World Bank Managing Director; Mr. Philippe Le Houerou, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia; Mr. Arrigo Sadun, Executive Director for Albania in the IMF; Mr. Piero Cipollone, Executive Director for Albania in the World Bank; Mr. Reza Moghadam, Director of the International Monetary Fund's European Department; Ms. Jane Armitage, Country Director and Regional Coordinator for Southeast Europe at the World Bank; Mr. Charles Enoch, Deputy Director in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department in the IMF; Ms. Barbro Wickman-Parak, Deputy Governor of the Sveriges Riksbank, and Mr. Daniel Hardy, Division Chief at the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF.

In the meetings, Governor Fullani informed the interlocutors on the current macroeconomic situation in Albania and the measures taken by the Bank of Albania to maintain financial system stability at home.

Mr. Fullani participated also in the 25th Meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of the IMF Board of Governors, attended by functionaries from central banks, IMF, ministries of finance and other important international financial institutions. The Governor of the Bank of Albania met with senior officials from these institutions exchanging views on the latest developments in Europe, with a special focus on Southeast Europe.
