Prof. Dr. Tonin Kola

Prof. Dr. Tonin Kola is a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania since December 2014. He served as a member of this Council also during the period 1999-2006.

Mr Tonin Kola graduated in 1985 in Political Economy from the University of Tirana. 

He finished his postgraduate studies in Macroeconomics and International Finance at the University of Konstanz in Germany, in 1994. He earned the title “Professor” in 2011.
 
Mr Kola has lectured on macroeconomics and international finance at the Faculty of Economy at the University of Tirana, since 1986. As of 2016, he is the Head of Economics Department in this Faculty. 
 
In his career, Mr Kola has served as an external adviser to the Minister of Finance in the period 1997-1998 and the Prime Minister in the period 2002-2005. For a short period of time, during 1998-1999, he also served as the General Director of the Insurance Institute (INSIG). Mr Kola served as a member in the Board of Directors of the National Commercial Bank during the period 1997-1999 and of the Board of Directors of the National Housing Authority during the period 2014-2017.
 
He has received several short and long-term qualifications from Western universities, mainly from those in Germany.
 
He is the author of many papers published in scientific journals in Albania and abroad on issues related to international finance, monetary policy, fiscal policy, economic growth, etc. Mr Kola is also author of many studies presented in conferences organised in Albania and abroad.
 
Mr Kola has also delivered a series of lectures at various universities, such as the University of Bamberg in Germany; University of Siegen in Germany; Polytechnic University in Budapest, University of Kaposvár in Hungary, and Andrássy University Budapest - a German-language university in Hungary.
