Obverse: In the center is the train entering the tunnel, surrounded by two stars on either side of it. In the upper arch is written, "ALBANIA", while in the lower arch there is the nominal value "5 LEKË", as well as the year "1988".

Reverse: In the center is the train coming out of the tunnel, and in the arch above is placed the coat of arms of the Republic of Albania. Around it is written, "Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë 1946- 1988".
