The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) improved in 2020 Q3, after recording the lowest historical level, during Q2. Despite the increase by 23.0 points, the value of ESI of about 75.3 remains below the long-term average (Chart 1). The performance of ESI is mainly influenced by the improvement of business confidence and to a lesser extent by the improvement of the consumer confidence. However, both the business and the consumer confidence indicator remain below the respective historical averages.
