Bank of Albania, in cooperation with the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, open a temporary exhibition “Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in Albanian coins and banknotes” in Prizren, Kosovo

The Bank of Albania, in cooperation with the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, in the framework of the pan-national Year of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, organized a temporary exhibition “Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in Albanian coins and banknotes”.

This exhibition was opened on 10 June 2018 - a date that coincides with the 140^th anniversary of the Albanian League of Prizren - at the League’s building in the city of Prizren, Kosovo.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition were present Albania’s H. E. President Ilir Meta, Kosovo’s H.E. Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, as well as a number of Albanian and Kosovar dignitaries.

The temporary exhibition “Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in Albanian coins and banknotes” was opened for the first time at the Museum of the Bank of Albania, in Tirana, on 17 January 2018.

The collection selected by the Bank of Albania for this exhibition presents Albanian coins and banknotes of 1921-1996, which represent the National Hero and the symbols related with him, printing elements of these denominations, as well as commemorative coins representing important events of the national history like the Albanian League of Prizren, the Congress of Manastir and the Declaration of Independence.

The exhibition has also an educational corner, where the public may learn about the functions of the central banks of Albania and Kosovo and other financial education-related topics.

This exhibition will remain open until 12 June 2018.
