Bank of Albania puts in circulation the 1000 LEKË legal tender coin, issue of 2023

The Bank of Albania informs the public that, as of 15 November 2024, the Albanian coin with nominal value of 100 LEKË, legal tender, issue of 2023, will be put in circulation.

The re-minted Albanian  100 LEKË coin, legal tender, will be put in circulation following the approval by the Bank of Albania’ Supervisory Council Decision No. 02, dated 18.01.2023, pursuant to the Law No. 8269, dated 23.12.1997 “On the Bank of Albania”, as amended.

The 100 LEKË coin, issue of 2023, has the same alloy composition, design, dimensions and weight as the last issue of this denomination.

The differences from the last issue consist in the year of issue, “2023” printed on the coin, as well as the spelling of the words “LEKË”, “MBRETËRESHA” and “SHQIPËRISË”.

From 15 November 2024, the 100 LEKË nominal value coin, legal tender, issue of 2023, will be used as a means of payment in parallel to all existing coins in circulation of this denomination, from earlier issues.
