BANK OF ALBANIA

Bank of Albania puts in circulation the 20 lek legal tender coin, issue of 2016

The Bank of Albania informs the public that, as of 30 March 2018, the Albanian coin with nominal value of 20 lek, legal tender, issue of 2016, will be put in circulation.

The re-minted Albanian 20 lek coin, legal tender, will be put in circulation following the approval by the Bank of Albania's Supervisory Council Decision No 120, dated 09.11.2016, pursuant to Law No. 8269, dated 23.12.1997 “On the Bank of Albania”, as amended.

The 20 lek coin, issue of 2016, has the same alloy composition, design, dimensions and weight as the 20 lek coin, issue of 2012.

The differences from the latter issue consist in the year of issue printed on the coin, i.e. “2016”, as well as the spelling of the words “LEKË” and “SHQIPËRISË”.

From 30 March 2018, the 20 lek coin, legal tender, issue of 2016, will be used as a means of payment in parallel to all existing coins in circulation of this denomination, from earlier issues.
