Governor Sejko meets the Ambassador of Israel in Tirana, H.E. Boaz Rodkin

On 28 October 2016, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr Gent Sejko, met the Ambassador of Israel in Tirana, H.E. Boaz Rodkin. At the beginning of the meeting, the two interlocutors acknowledged the good relationships between the two countries.

Governor Sejko presented an overview of financial developments in Albania, highlighting that the Albanian banking system is capitalised, liquid and financially sound. The Governor stated that the Bank of Albania will remain committed to fulfilling its mission for price stability and financial stability in Albania.

Focusing on Albania's economic growth, Governor Sejko pointed out that the recent developments show that the external macroeconomic environment remains challenging, but the monetary authority will provide all the necessary contribution to support endeavours for sustainable economic growth. The Bank of Albania has been implementing and will continue to implement an accommodative monetary policy, while fiscal policy is on a consolidating trajectory.

Also, the two interlocutors discussed on the recent structural reforms undertaken by the Government to formalise the economy.

Ambassador Rodkin commended Bank of Albania's work toward safeguarding and guaranteeing the country's financial stability, and deemed Albania a safe country for Israeli investors.

In addition, Ambassador Rodkin presented an overview of the economic landscape and development models of Israel. Special attention was paid to the potential perspectives in the framework of economic cooperation, mainly in the financial system, between the two countries.

In conclusion, the interlocutors concurred on the establishment of appropriate conditions for increasing foreign investments in Albania.
