The Bank of Albania and the European Central Bank sign the cooperation agreement for the prevention and detection of the euro-counterfeiting.

The Bank of Albania and the European Central Bank sign the cooperation agreement on the exchange of information in the field of the protection of the euro against counterfeiting.

This agreement aims to regulate and facilitate the cooperation procedures between the two central authorities in the field of protection of the euro against counterfeiting in the territory of Albania. The agreement shall standardise the technical information in order to strengthen the technical capacities for the monitoring and prevention of counterfeit euro banknotes in Albania. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank shall provide information with specifications and data derived from the technical analysis of counterfeit euro banknotes discovered in Europe and elsewhere.

Governor Sejko deems this cooperation to be quite important in order to intensify the exchange of information, opinions and expertise in the field of counterfeiting of the euro.
