The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko meets the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany in Albania, HE Susanne Schütz

On 22 December 2016, Gent Sejko, the Governor of the Bank of Albania had an official meeting at the Bank of Albania with HE Susanne Schütz, the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Albania.

In the meeting, Governor Sejko thanked the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, HE Susanne Schütz for the close relations between the two countries, highlighting the importance and the positive impact of the support of Germany for the Albania's integration process into the European Union. Special attention was paid to further strengthening this cooperation in the field of economics and justice for improving the legal framework, as well as potential future perspectives.

Further on, during the meeting there were discussions about the economic landscape of Albania, where Governor Sejko highlighted that the accommodative economic policy pursued by the Bank of Albania has positively affected the economic development trajectory, consumer price stability and the financial stability of Albania.

The Governor and the Ambassador also discussed the important contribution of the Bank of Albania to Albania's EU integration process by approximating the regulatory framework and work practices with EU Directives.

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, expressed his appreciation to the German Bank for helping in the exchange of experiences and technical assistance provided in various areas of central banking.

During the meeting, Governor Sejko conveyed on behalf of the Bank of Albania and in his name the condolences for the lives lost during the terrorist attack a few days ago in Berlin, and expressed his belief that the German people will find the strength to overcome this difficult moment.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Albania, HE Susanne Schütz, thanked Governor Sejko for the meeting and appraised the key contribution of the Bank of Albania in safeguarding Albania's macroeconomic stability.

In conclusion, they shared the same views about the perspectives of advancing the economic cooperation between the two countries, mainly with regard to the financial system and the growth of foreign investments in Albania.
