The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) continued to improve in 2020 Q4, upwards by 6 points. Despite this development, the value of ESI resulted around 81.1, remaining considerably below the historical average, affected by the sharp negative shock in the second quarter of 2020 (Chart 1). The quarterly increase of ESI mainly reflected the improvement of confidence in trade, industry and services. Construction confidence indicator and consumer confidence recorded a slight fall. All confidence indicators continue to remain below the respective historical averages.
