Governor Sejko at the High-Level Seminar on "Rethinking Monetary-Fiscal Policy Coordination", jointly organized by the Bank of Slovenia and the IMF

On 19 - 20 May 2016, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr Gent Sejko, participated in the High-Level Seminar on 'Rethinking Monetary-Fiscal Policy Coordination", jointly organised by the Bank of Slovenia and the International Monetary Fund. The seminar brought together a distinguished group of European central bank governors, senior officials of international institutions, prominent academics and practitioners.

The seminar provided a platform for exchanging insights on the coordination of monetary and fiscal policies. This issue is quite topical from the perspective of challenges central banks are facing today.

Governor Sejko delivered a speech during the panel on "Conducting monetary policy when fiscal space is limited", led by Mr Hans-Helmut Kotz, Professor, Centre for Financial Studies, Goethe University and chaired by Mr Dubravko Mihaljek, Head of Macroeconomic Analysis, Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

Governor Sejko discussed on the contribution and role of the monetary policy in the presence of fiscal consolidation, referring to the Albanian experience. In conclusion, the Governor answered to the interest of participants, sharing his opinions on the addressed issues.

During the days of the seminar, Governor Sejko met with the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, Mr Botjan Jazbec, and other participating governors. They focused on the advancement of cooperation and discussions on issues of common interest.
