Regulatory Framework

According to the Law "On the Bank of Albania" and the Law "On banks in the Republic of Albania", the Bank of Albania may issue sub-legal acts in the form of regulations, guidelines, decisions and orders, to be implemented by all banks and other institutions licensed by the Bank of Albania.

The set of the sublegal acts constitutes the regulatory framework of supervision, which limits the risk taken by banks and other institutions licensed by the Bank of Albania in the course of their activity. Basel Committee Documents, as well as European Union Directives, Regulations and the Guidelines serve as the main guideline for compiling this regulatory framework.

Regulatory acts approved are licensing, supervisory and general regulatory acts.
