The Bank of Albania is the sole authority for issuing banknotes and coins of legal tender in the Republic of Albania. The monetary unit of the Republic of Albania is the "Lek”.

Bank of Albania is closed on January 3, January 4, April 18, April 25, May 3, July 11 and December 26, 2022.

*** According to the Council of Ministers Decision approved in its meeting on 18.03.2022, “On determining Monday, 21 March 2022, as a holiday”, Monday, 21.03.2022 shall be a day off.

**** Pursuant to the decision approved by the Council of Ministers, dated 18.05.2022, "On the appointment of Wednesday 25.05.2022, as a day off”, the Bank of Albania’s headquarters in Tirana will be closed on Wednesday.
