AECH - Albanian Electronic Clearing House

The Bank of Albania has been providing the clearing service since 1997. This service provides for the processing of client-initiated cheques and interbank payment clearing.

The AECH is an automated clearing house system for small value/retail payments (up to ALL 10 million). It is a SEPA compliant system and the clearing of payment instruments is performed in clearing sessions. The multilateral net results of participants are settled in the AIPS System at the end of each clearing session. AECH is fully integrated with AIPS for the purpose of automatic settlement of net positions.

AECH has been running live since 8 July 2005.

Participants in AECH include the Bank of Albania and 12 commercial banks, as direct participants, and the Ministry of Finance as indirect participant.

AECH operates in three clearing sessions:
