“Smart Money Talks! - 100-Year National Currency!”

The Global Money Week 2026 (GMW) will take place from 16 to 22 March 2026. Coordinated internationally by OECD-INFE, this initiative aims to empower with financial education children and young people throughout the world.

In Albania, the Bank of Albania, in collaboration with the Albanian Association of Banks, and with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency, will organize a range of educational and awareness-raising activities tailored to the young generation.

This year, under the slogan “Smart Money Talks!”, the focus will be on the importance of open conversations about money and finance. The financial lives of young people are filled with choices—from earning their first money to managing student loans and protecting themselves against fraud. Managing finances can sometimes feel complicated and stressful, and young people often feel uncertain about discussing financial matters. However, sharing experiences and having open conversations with the right people can equip them with the skills to manage money wisely and confidently. Financial education gives the tools to build healthy financial habits and avoid pitfalls, in turn empowering young people take control of their journey toward financial well-being.

This year’s activities will also take place in the framework of the 100th Anniversary of Albania’s national currency, offering a unique opportunity for young people to reflect on its history and its role in the country’s economy.
