"The future of museums and education”

Tirana, 15 November 2019

The Bank of Albania has the pleasure of announcing its third Conference of the Museum of the Bank of Albania, to be organised in Tirana, Albania, on 15 November 2019, at the Bank of Albania premises.

The one-day conference will be dedicated to: “The future of museums and education”.

In general, museums, in the pursuit of their role as cultural, research and educational institutions that collect, preserve and present to the public objects of historical, scientific, cultural and artistic values, aim at informing and educating them in a particular area. From this point of view, the Museum of Bank of Albania, through a rich numismatic collection, introduces the public to the evolution of money throughout the centuries, from its earliest primitive form to its present-day digital form.

Latest technological advances have turned central bank museums into information hubs. Through apps, movies, educational brochures and lectures, visitors are not merely informed, but above all, they benefit from an interactive experience.

In fact, this new approach that museums have adopted, has contributed to the improvement of knowledge and culture in various fields. The experience ones gains during a museum visit educates, inspires and helps him or her to acquire knowledge, values and attitudes that come from a country’s cultural heritage and its past, which take up new forms, and in a forward-looking approach.

Within this framework, the aim of this conference is to bring together museum officials, experts, and experienced and young researchers in the field of museology and education, to share their findings on the future role of museums and education in the culture and welfare of a country.
