Governor Sejko meets with H.E. Mr Duncan Norman MBE, the new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Albania.

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr Gent Sejko had an official meeting at the premises of the Bank of Albania with the new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr Duncan Norman MBE.

Governor Sejko presented an overview of the financial developments in Albania, underlining that the Albanian banking system is well capitalized, liquid and financially sound. Governor Sejko stated that the Bank of Albania will continue to be committed to fulfilling its mission for price stability and financial stability in Albania.

In addition, Governor Sejko focused on the latest developments in the euro area, the UK's exit from the European Union, and the spill-over effects they might have on the Albanian economy.

In this regard, he guaranteed that, despite these developments, the Bank of Albania is committed to provide the needed contribution for sustainable economic growth.

Governor Sejko expressed also his gratitude to the Bank of England for the help in sharing experiences and know-how and in providing the technical assistance in several fields of central banking.

They also discussed on essential topics such as the close relationship between the two countries, and the further strengthening of cooperation in the field of education; in the field of justice for improving the legal framework, and the potential future prospects.

The Ambassador of United Kingdom, H.E. Mr Duncan Norman MBE, thanked Governor Sejko for this meeting and commended the Bank of Albania for its substantial contribution in safeguarding the macroeconomic stability in Albania.

Both Governor Sejko and Ambassador Norman concurred on further enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries, mainly in aspects related to the financial system and to the increase of foreign investments in Albania.
