Launching the 5 lek legal tender coin, issue of 2011

Pursuant to the Law No. 8269 of 23/12/1997 'On the Bank of Albania', the Bank of Albania's Supervisory Council, approved, with decision No. 84 of 13/12/2010, the launching of the Albanian 5 lek coin.

Implementing this decision, the Bank of Albania informs the Albanian public that on November 19, 2012, the 5 lek legal tender coin, issue of 2011, will go into circulation.
The new 5 lek coin has the same appearance and dimensions as the 5 lek coin, issue of 1995 put in circulation in 01/01/1997, re-minted in 2000 and put in circulation in 01/01/2001.

The only change from the previous issue is the year of issue (2011) inscribed in the coin.

Starting from November 19, 2012, the 5 lek coin, issue of 2011, will be used as payment means parallel to all the previously issued coins of this denomination, which are already in circulation.
