Mr. Gent Sejko appointed new Governor of the Bank of Albania

Today, on 6 February 2015, Mr. Ilir Meta, Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, introduced the new Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Gent Sejko, in the presence of the staff members of the Bank of Albania.

Mr. Sejko was appointed by the Parliament as the new Governor of the Bank of Albania on 5 February 2015, upon the decree of the President of the Republic of Albania.

He has an extensive career of over 20 years serving in senior positions both in banking system and the Bank of Albania. Mr. Sejko graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Economics, in 1991, with a degree in industrial economy. In 1997, he earned his Master's degree in International Accounting & Financial Management from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, with his thesis on: 'Role of banks and privatisation of banks in transition economies'.

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Meta guaranteed the full support of the Parliament for the central bank institution with regard to facing future challenges and ensuring financial stability in Albania.

Governor Sejko extended his thanks both to the Parliament of Albania and the Albanian political bodies for their support to the Bank of Albania, as the central monetary authority in Albania. In addition, he emphasised that as a result of the professionalism and commitment of the staff, the Bank of Albania will be an institution meriting the trust and respect of the public.
