Obverse: In the center of the coin is presented the nominal value "500 LEKË", as well as the coat of arms of the People's Republic of Albania surrounded by stars on both sides.

Reverse: In the center of the coin is outlined the bust of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves. On both sides of the bust are written the years "1468- 1968". " SHQIPËRI - ALBANIA" and "Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu" are written in arched form.
