Governor Fullani attends the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency and the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo

On 04.06.2014, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Ardian Fullani participated at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) and the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK). The ceremony took place in Prishtina and was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Bedri Hamza, Minister for Finance of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Besim Beqaj, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in Prishtina, Ms. Henriette Kotter, Director General of DIA, Mr. Toni Gogu, and Managing Director of DIFK, Ms. Violeta Arifi-Krasniqi.

Through this memorandum, the two institutions agree to strengthen the cooperation framework, which includes exchanging experiences, building capacities and enhancing the effectiveness of the deposit insurance systems, in line with best international and European practices.

In his address to the ceremony, Governor Fullani underlined the crucial role of deposit insurance agencies in guaranteeing a country's financial stability.

Furthermore, Governor Fullani encouraged the DIA and DIFK management to adopt the best standards in the field of deposits' insurance. In this context, he added that: "Following the example of the Bank of Albania and the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, which are involved in regional cooperation in the framework of Vienna Initiative II, your institutions may benefit from coordinating the efforts for approximation with the best European standards in the field of deposit insurance".
