Governor Sejko meets Dr Johann Sattler, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in Tirana

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr Gent Sejko, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in Tirana, H.E. Dr Johann Sattler, at the Bank of Albania.

In the meeting, Governor Sejko highlighted the excellent historic relationship and the traditional friendship between the two countries, emphasising the significant and longstanding contribution of Austria to Albania.

Governor Sejko informed Ambassador Sattler on the latest economic and financial developments in Albania.Regarding the banking system, he pointed out that, currently, this system has good financial indicators and added that the Bank of Albania has oriented its priorities towards the measures to enhance lending, reduce non-performing loans and foster financial stability. Governor Sejko affirmed that the Bank of Albania will remain committed to fulfilling its mission for price stability and financial stability in Albania.

The discussions also focused on enhancing economic cooperation and considering the possibilities for promoting foreign direct investments in Albania. Governor Sejko underlined that the continuation of structural reforms is highly important to further improving the business climate and attracting foreign investments in Albania.

Ambassador Sattler commended Bank of Albania's work toward safeguarding and guaranteeing the country's financial stability, underlining that it is important for Albanian institutions to be more vocal in promoting Albania, a country that has seen evident progress over the years.

The Governor and the Ambassador also discussed about the important contribution of the Bank of Albania to the country's EU integration process by approximating the regulatory framework and work practices with EU Directives.

Governor Sejko extended his gratitude to Ambassador Sattler for the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), the central bank of the Republic of Austria, for the fruitful collaboration and technical assistance in various fields of central banking.

In conclusion, the interlocutors concurred on further intensifying the economic cooperation between Austria and Albania.
