Official visit of the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Durmus Yilmaz, at the Bank of Albania

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Durmus Yilmaz upon the invitation of the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Ardian Fullani, paid an official visit to Albania on September 24 -25, 2009. This visit marks a further step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Bank of Albania and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.

The priorities of institutional cooperation between the two central banks were tackled in this meeting, while both Governors pointed out the commitment of the respective institutions on the enlargement of sharing experiences in various fields of central banking. Governor Yilmaz also ensured to all addressees the potential support and partnership from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey for the Bank of Albania in fields of common interest.

In the framework of Governor Yilmaz official visit, Bank of Albania organised in its premises an open meeting, which was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Albania, His Excellency Mr. Z. Hasan Sevilir Asan, representatives of Turkish business in Albania, directors of banks carrying out their activity in Albania, and other personalities as well.

On this occasion, Mr. Yilmaz held a speech on “Recent global financial crisis and the recent developments in the Turkish economy and the monetary policy they have implemented”. In his speech, Governor Yilmaz described the current developments occurring in the Turkish financial markets and in the banking sector as well, being concentrated on the effects of the crises on the Turkish economy.
