On participation of the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Ardian Fullani, in the high-level conference organised by the Joint Vienna Institute to celebrate its 20th Anniversary

During July 12-13, 2012, the Governor of the Bank of Albania participated in a high-level conference organised by the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. This conference brought together prominent policymakers, academics, governors, and representatives of various international institutions. The first day went under the heading of 'The way forward: Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe' and focused on the lessons from the global economic crisis, the measures needed for monetary and financial stability of these countries. The second day focused on the past, present and future of the JVI. 

The Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) is as an international training institute located in Vienna, Austria. It was launched in 1992 to respond rapidly to the large demand from economies in transition to train officials in market economics and the free enterprise system. Primary members of the JVI are: the Austrian Authorities (Oesterreichische Nationalbank and the Ministry of Finance) and the International Monetary Fund. Contributing Members of the JVI are: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development; Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Trade Organization.

Since 1992, the institute has trained about 29.000 officials from countries in transition.

Invited by the Joint Vienna Institute, the Governor Fullani held a speech during the first day of the conference on maintaining monetary and financial stability in Albania. During the second day of the conference, the Governor, through his speech, invited, inter alia, the sponsoring institutions of the JVI to consider the Bank of Albania's research centre of Berat for conducting training to officials from the Southeast Europe.
