At the invitation of the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Ardian Fullani, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Mr. Radovan Jelasic, visited Albania on 15-16 March 2010.

Regional financial stability was the main topic discussed in the meeting held between the two governors, who underlined that the co-ordination of various macroeconomic policies would progress the regional and European integration further. The two governors provided a brief overview of the latest macroeconomic developments in the respective countries, focusing on the challenges that both central banks have to face with regard to financial stability and European integration.

The deepening of co-operation was another topic of discussion between the two governors. Currently, the two central banks are implementing the Technical Co-operation Agreement signed last year with the purpose of exchanging experience in different areas of central banking.

On this occasion, Governor Jelasic gave a lecture at the Bank of Albania Hall titled "The Future will differ from the Past! Case of Serbia". In his welcome and opening speech, Governor Fullani noted that the situation that has characterized the global economy during the past two years has called for the deepening of co-operation between the central banks in the region. The exchange of information on the measures taken, the actions and tactics employed, and the legal and regulatory modifications has been a key factor in facing the various difficult situations during this period. The excellent co-operation between the central banks in the region has paved the way for enhancing co-operation and understanding between the regional countries further, providing at the same time a genuine contribution to meeting the regional aspiration for European integration.
