Decisions by the Supervisory Council, 6 March 2024

In the meeting of 6 March 2024, the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania reviewed and decided to:

• Approve the Annual Report of the Bank of Albania 2023

The annual report constitutes a legal obligation of the Bank of Albania in view of the accountability to the Parliament and the communication with the financial system, the media and the public. It is the most important document, which informs the Parliament in a transparent manner on the decisions of the Supervisory Council and the activity of the Bank of Albania with a view to fulfilling its institutional, monetary, operational and developmental objectives.

The report, inter alia, reflects:

• overall macroeconomic developments in Albania;
• monetary and foreign currency-related policies implemented by the Bank of Albania;
• developments in the banking system and potential risks facing financial stability;
• supervisory, licensing and regulatory activities;
• currency issue, payment system, administration of the foreign exchange reserves ,statistics, research, communication and financial education activities;
• human resources management;
• internal audit activity;
• medium-term objectives of the Bank.

Following its presentation to the Parliament of the Republic of Albania, the Annual Report 2023 will be available on our website www.bankofalbania.org/.

• Approve an amendment to the Regulation “On Capital Adequacy Ratio”

This amendment stipulates that for the purposes of calculating risk-weighted assets, from high-risk exposures category, which include loans extended outside the bank's home territory via its subsidiaries, branches, or agencies, will no longer categorize loans granted in the Republic of Kosovo as high-risk.

• Approve the minting of a commemorative coin, for numismatic purposes, with the theme "100 years Bank of Albania, 1925-2025"

This decision determines the theme and technical specifications of the commemorative coin, for numismatic purposes and without legal tender, which the Bank of Albania will mint for 2025.

The Supervisory Council was also informed on the daily functional and operational activities of the Bank of Albania.
